One of the central commitments of Latin American philosophy is openness to intercultural dialogue, be it as an object of philosophical inquiry (i.e., by asking questions such as how such a dialogue is possible and why it can be a source of knowledge), be it as a philosophical praxis (i.e., by actively entering into dialogue with other philosophical traditions). Both these aspects serve as motivation for the Latin American Philosophy Workshop to be held in Kyoto University. The presentations aim both to introduce non-specialists to specific aspects of Latin American philosophy and to offer original work within it. In person and virtual participation are possible with prior registration via e-mail.

We are currently working on two antologies on Latin American philosophy, one in German and one in Spanish for the "Colección Filosófica".
