Ever Rain is an Application Based roleplay, meaning that there will be specific openings where those interested can apply to join the server, either as general members, high rank members, or even for the staff team! As such, each application will feature different questions and requirements pertaining to what someone may be applying for. Because Ever Rain wants to maintain full transparency with those interested and potential members, below will feature what each application will feature and what it will ask of you. This is to allow those interested to have this information ready by the time applications roll around and not feel rushed by closing dates inching closer over the days, or surprised by what may be asked.
These dates will be announced in a few key places: the Ever Rain tumblr (@/everrainrp), on toyhou.se under a World Forum post dedicated to Ever Rain, the discord server itself, and this website.
Applications are entirely private, and will not be shared with anyone outside of dedicated staff team.
Your Name(s). Self explanatory, this is asking for any names that you go by!
Your Age. Please do not lie about this to gain access to the server, as you will be kicked.
Your Discord ID. This is to both contact you for your acceptance into the server, and to invite you into the server.
A Social Media. This is kept entirely private and only used to vet applicants to ensure that you are not an unsafe individual who participates in harmful content.
A Little About Yourself. Here you can say all you want about yourself! Your hobbies outside of roleplaying, any pets you may have, generally anything that you would like to share!
A Writing Sample. This is to evaluate your typical writing style. You do not have to create a flourishing short story, just give a sample of what we can expect from your roleplaying style! This is also not used to judge your writing, we are all human and make mistakes. You are not expected to have absolutely perfect mastery over English grammar (let us all be serious, it is confusing even to those who have it as a first language). That being said, you are expected to have a grasp on grammar and show that you can create posts longer than five sentences.
Your Roleplay History / Experience. This does not have to be in-depth featuring every roleplay that you have been a part of, just an overview!
Your Expected Activity Level for the Server. Just asking how active you plan to be! This has little to no sway on choices among Staff, High Ranks, and Members.
A Confirmation that You've Read the Rules. Self explanatory, guidelines will always be linked at the top of applications for those who are not connected to this site or the tumblr where they are posted!
Your Staffing Experience. You do not have to have tons of staff experience to apply, what is sought out in staff applications is the ability to be professional and willingness to learn and work in a team!
Why Are You Interested. This just asks what you wish to bring to the server team and the server overall, and why you are interested in the position that you are!
How Willing Are You to Work With People You Don't Know and May Not Like. This does NOT mean if you are willing to work with people who have hurt or wronged you in the past, but instead refers to the idea that you may not entirely get along with your fellow staff and that's okay! Not everyone will get along with everyone.
What Positions Are You Most/Least Interested In. Self explanatory, this just asks what role you would prefer to fill the most and which you'd rather not take on!
Do You Have Experience With Bots, Google Docs, and Google Sites. How proficient are you with bots and docs, as these are used for organization purposes and server purposes!
How Willing Are You To Learn the Above. In conjunction with the above, how willing are you to learn these applications for the server?
Both of the General and High Rank Applications will be very similar, but are separated into two different application forms to keep things organized on staffs end! Each are further split up into two sections: OCs, and Adoptables.
You may apply for two general rank characters, and two high rank characters. These pairs must be oc + oc | oc+ adoptable | or adoptable + adoptable. You will only be accepted for one general rank and one high rank!
For High Ranks, these are to be accepted at the end of each Clans application week! This is to prevent disappointment and anticipation that might come with waiting a full month, only to find you have no been accepted, or only submitted for one when you could have submitted for another Clan. You will only be accepted for one HR initially, so be sure the ones you are applying for are ones that you absolutely want!
CURRENT OPENING (This will detail what is generally being accepted for each particular opening):
Will only be accepting Clan Cats! These may be of any rank, and be ranged from 4 months - 226 months (18 years), can be newly brought in loners or kittypets, or born and raised in their Clan, and so on! This is to focus on the Clans and begin filling in each of them with members and populations. Future openings will feature loners and kittypets and rogues, so do not fret!
Generally, it would be preferred to limit older kit submissions (4-5 months, allowed because by this age kittens are no longer reliant on a parent to nurse), and limit pregnant character submissions as it is unknown what rank distribution will look like until the end of the entire opening. Plus what members might do with their initial secondary character slot, so finding members to be mentors upon apprentices reaching 9 moons old might be difficult, but by then I do believe the two slot limit will be up and members can make more characters freely.
For Both...
Your Characters Name. Self explanatory! You may list multiples if you are not entirely sure what you want it to be yet, and you may list off why they are named that if you wish!
Your Characters Age. This will be in Moons and in Years! For easy reference, each month = one moon, so simply plug the number of months into your browser of choice and add '- in years'. This will spit out a concise year for you!
Your Characters Sex, Gender and Pronouns. Sex is AFAB, AMAB, and Intersex. Gender is the characters chosen presentation of themselves, and pronouns are what they have chosen to go by, he/she/they for example. Ever Rain does not shy away from neopronouns, so do not be afraid to apply with a character with those! You may also list if your character can sire or birth kits, or if they are infertile here, but it is not required! If it is of discomfort for you to list an AGAB for any particular reason, you may skip that.
Your Characters Appearance. Self explanatory, what your character looks like! You may use descriptions, picrews, art or photographs, just be sure that anything utilized that is not yours is properly credited! If you do not have any images to use, a detailed description will work just fine! If it is an adoptable, you may skip this part by writing 'Adoptable'.
Your Characters Clan and Rank. What Clan do you want your character to be a part of, and what rank are they? If the opening features loners or rogues, you may instead write 'N/A' or their future position and Clan. If you are applying with an apprentice, you may list what you wish their future rank and fully realized name to be!
An Overview of Their Personality. Self explanatory, this asks for your characters personality! Keep in mind, what are their strengths? Weaknesses? Positive and Negative Traits? What do they fear? How was their personality affected and shaped by their history and upbringing? This does not have to be pages and pages long, but delve and dig into it! For Adoptables and High Ranks: This is expected to be a bit more fully fleshed out, and for Adoptables what is being sought out is your own personal twist being put on these characters!
An Overview of Their History. Same as above, what does your characters history and backstory look like? How were they raised and who were they raised by? How has this affected their personality and views growing up? Where did they come from if they were born outside of the Clans, or are they the product of a cross Clan love? Are they related to a historical figure? These are all things to keep in mind! Once again, this does not need to be oodles and oodles of information, but as above, delve and dig into it! Your characters history has just as much say in who they are as much as their personality does! For Adoptables and High Ranks: As above, this is expected to be a bit more fully fleshed out and have your own personal spin put on these for adoptables!
Potential Story and Growth. Do you have any future arcs or character development you have in mind for your character? It is okay if you don't! Sometimes these things may come later, so you may skip this question if you want!
Do You Have Any Interest In An Adoptable or High Rank. If so, which adoptable and/or which rank?
Leaving the Server. If for any reason you find yourself unable to continue in the server and wish to leave, there will be no hard feelings! Unless you are kicked or banned, you are always welcome back in the future. In the event of this, what would you like to have happen to your character in roleplay? Examples may be allowing your character to become a background NPC, or disappearing into the night, if you'd rather keep it vague. This is to prevent having to erase history and links between characters. This is by no means forfeiting your character to Ever Rain: the character you have created is yours and yours alone and you may do as you wish with them if you leave the server. The exception to this are adoptables created by other characters, it is not required but would be polite to reach out to a creator if you plan to leave to see what they would like you to do with the adoptable.
For High Ranks...
These will differ only slightly from the above with a few added questions!
What Rank Are You Hoping For. Self explanatory, what rank do you hope to get with your character?
General Rank. If you do not get the spot that you were hoping for, are you okay with your character being accepted as a general rank instead? If so, what rank and how does this change anything found in their history or character development that may be planned?
Do You Believe You Can Handle Activity Requirements. Activity requirements are slightly higher for players with high ranks as to prevent stagnation within Clans due to inactivity of a high rank! Do you believe you can handle posting in at least one thread per week? Note, this requirement does not request you finish a thread per week, just post!
Communication. As a high rank, you will likely need to be present for large scale happenings such as gatherings, festivals, battles and so on! It is alright if you cannot, you can work with staff to either have an in roleplay reason for your absence, or you may allow a staff member to play your character as a NPC, it is totally up to you! What this asks of you is not necessarily if you can commit to these things as that is unreasonable, but is instead asking if you are able to keep communication with staff to let them know what is going on and what you would like to do about it! There are no hard feelings if you cannot do something or participate in something, as your comfort and life come first before a WCRP.
Any Plans. Do you have any plans with this high rank in terms of Clan development and/or character development? Examples as such may be if you plan on further putting tensions on a Clan rivalry, or if you plan on trying to campaign to change the way the Clan is lead? You may keep this vague or blank if you do not have any thoughts on this!
How Willing Are You To... Cooperate with staff to plan large scale roleplays? Cooperate with your peers and their high ranks to plot further Clan relations? Cooperation within roleplays are a necessity! This is not asking you to become dearest friends with everyone involved, as that is also unreasonable, but rather if you are alright with the idea that you may not get along with some of your peers all while still being able to cooperate with them.
