Ever Rain places a great deal of importance on the safety and comfort of its members and community, and as such, you are expected to have read the guidelines prior to auditioning to join. The guidelines outline unacceptable behaviors and actions and the punishments that come with them, as well as outlining general common courtesy for your fellow roleplayers.
Below you will find the guidelines featuring what is most important to the integrity and safety of the server.

THREE-STRIKE SYSTEM
Ever Rain will follow a three-strike system in conjunction with the rules stated below. Strikes are not given lightly, and are reserved for repeat offenders of minor rules or the breaking of a larger rule. Bans and kicks are not given without warning, except for specific instances labeled below. If a rule is broken, a Staff Member will reach out to you privately to let you know that you have received a strike and what rule it was that was broken. Ever Rain values inclusivity and aims to be a safe and comfortable space for its members, and as such, specific behaviors will not be tolerated. Some behaviors will result in an instantaneous ban.
Strikes are not permanent and will be taken off of your account after one month. The number of strikes will also vary between rules. Flooding a channel with spam does not carry the same weight as sending unsavory content, and the strikes you receive will reflect this.

AGE RESTRICTIONS
This is an 18+(SFW) server at its core. If you are found to be lying about your age, whether in regards to not being 18 or not falling within the grace period, you will be kicked immediately.
There is a three month grace period for those who are about to turn 18, allowing those who are younger to join the server.
2a. This will be monitored very closely to ensure there are no issues or no inappropriate content being exchanged. If you are found to be exchanging unsavory messages with a minor you will be banned immediately and subsequently reported and exposed to prevent any further danger to people within the community.
2b. Likewise, if a minor is attempting to message you inappropriately you are expected to alert staff immediately and the member will be banned.
As stated below, while the server may contain strong and mature themes such as violence, sexual content of any sort is not allowed or condoned, either in or out of roleplay.
Violations of these rules are taken extremely seriously and you will be banned from the server without warning.

SERVER CONDUCT
This is a zero bigotry zone. Hateful content or speech is not allowed. This is not limited to but included: memes, messages, videos, etc. Any form of bigotry will result in an instantaneous ban with no possibility of being allowed to return to the server.
While the server may contain mature themes such as violence, sexual content is not condoned or allowed, either in or out of roleplay. Violators will be banned with no warning.
2a. The above two rules extend to DMs between server members. Members are encouraged to reach out to staff or open a ticket if someone is messaging them with hateful or inappropriate content and intent.
Please be respectful of one another. If you feel as though you’re being disrespected or purposely left out, please notify staff and it will be remedied. This includes rumors, unsolvable drama, disrespectful clique behaviors, or anything that is impacting your enjoyment and quality of life within the server.
If there is a subject matter that you want dropped, it should be dropped. This is to ensure everyone's comfort.
If there is an issue with a staff member, other players, or punishments that you feel are unjust, reach out and notify Administration or Moderators that are not involved!It will be sorted out and handled.
Please do not spam in any of the channels or flood the channels with unnecessary messages or content; you will receive a verbal warning the first time, and subsequent violations will result in you being muted, or depending on the content, kicked.
The usage of slurs is not condoned, reclaimable or not.
Keep in mind that in roleplay attitudes and comments do not equal the players views, and in roleplay drama or antagonism is no reason to treat your fellow server members badly.
Homophobes, Transphobes, Racists, Zoos and Pedos are not allowed and need not apply. Your application will be rejected and your Discord account will be permanently banned from interacting with Ever Rain if there is questionable content found on your tumblr or social media.

BLACKLIST AND TRIGGERS
As previously stated, if a subject is brought up that makes you uncomfortable, you have every right to ask for it to be dropped. If it persists, reach out to staff immediately.
Ever Rain follows a blacklist and a greylist. The greylist is for content that is mature, such as gore or heavy violence, and requires a spoiler and tw in your post. An example: tw: topic “|| content ||”. The blacklist is a variety of topics that is not allowed within Ever Rain period. Violators of this rule will receive one warning before being kicked for repeat offenses depending on the severity.
2a. Continuous failure to follow the greylist rule will result in a strike.
The blacklist includes: Depictions or talk of SA, self-harm, graphic depictions of drug use, real life violence and gore, content sexual in nature, “hurtcore” or things of the same nature, depictions or talk of real life abuse, and jokes about tragedies (9/11, etc.) . This list will be updated as time goes on.

POLITICS
While talk of real life politics is highly discouraged within the server chatting channels, Ever Rain will not shy away from informative links and measures. There will be a channel dedicated to information about Palestine and the First Nations groups that live within western Canada and Alaska, as well as information about our declining rainforests and climate. This is not to instigate or antagonize or be a source of discussion, this is purely for educational purposes and you will not be forced to interact with it if you so choose.
In roleplay politics are highly encouraged! Get messy with it! Just please remember that in roleplay views, topics or comments do not equate to any players true views. Do not treat any fellow server member badly because of something said or done in roleplay.

ROLEPLAY ETIQUETTE
TIME.
Ever Rain utilizes liquid time for roleplay, allowing for characters to be in multiple threads and locations at any given time. The exception to this rule is “time travel” roleplay, where unless it is a flashback, threads should not be started on past dates, or launched forward in time to past the next Gathering.
Rollovers will happen once every month. Current threads are not voided upon rollover, but it is highly encouraged to wrap them up at least a week past rollover. This is to prevent stagnant roleplays or unfinished threads!
Do value your roleplay buddies time and let them know if you are not going to be able to complete a thread or continue for any reason.
ACTIVITY.
Activity checks are extremely lenient within Ever Rain; we are all adults and have real life obligations and responsibilities, and as such understand we cannot be on our phones or computers 24/7!!
1a. For Non-HR & Non-Staff: Activity levels are checked once per month, and you are required to participate (not finish) in at least one roleplay/thread each month! You are not obligated to participate in events, prompts, QotD, or gatherings, though it is encouraged if you are able to!
1b. For HR: Activity levels are checked once per month, and you are required to post in (not finish) at least one roleplay/thread per week. This is to prevent stagnation within Clans that happens with lack of interaction from their leads or deputies. Failing two activity checks with no warning about absence/ a hiatus will result in you being asked to step down from your HR role so the rank may be given to another member.
1c. For HR: Gatherings will require you to be able to post in them. These will be planned and coordinated by event staff to ensure everyone or almost everyone can make it! If you find yourself absolutely unavailable for it, just let staff know and there will either be an in roleplay reason for the leads/deputies absence, or with your permission may temporarily be played as a NPC by staff. Larger scale events may also require you depending on the subject matter, such as festivals or large scale battles. The same applies for these as the Gathering; just let staff know you will not be able to participate. If you find yourself able to jump in later, it is highly encouraged!
1d. For Staff: Activity levels are checked once per month, but staff will follow a slightly deviated requirement. You must be at least semi-active in the server and behind the scenes staff conversations. Semi-active in this case may range from once a day to a few times a week. Like HR holders, failure of two checks will result in you being asked to step down to allow someone else to take the position.
FOR ALL: Mental health is very important and burnout is very real. If you find yourself getting burnt out or simply need to take time for yourself, please let staff know and you will be given the hiatus role or burned out role. This exempts you from activity requirements. It is highly encouraged to take these as you see fit or if you feel you need them. A roleplay is not worth burning the candle at both ends for, so to speak.
This following rule corresponds with the previous statement in regards to mental health. Ever Rain features different story arcs after each one finishes. Each story arc will be announced both on tumblr, on toyhou.se, and in the server along with trigger warnings for content that may be found in or are expected in that specific story arc.
If you are already a member of the server and cannot participate in any given arc due to content, do not force yourself to. Do not engage in content that you know will upset you in some way. We will not be upset or hold it against you; simply approach staff privately and we will figure something out with you.
For this reason, story arcs are made to be background happenings that add dynamics to the overall world rather than a guided storyline, and they are to be typically picked from more overall happenings rather than an intense focus on something. This includes things like Droughts or Locust Swarms, Intense Winters or Predators moving into the territories.
These story arcs will NEVER feature anything found within the blacklist.
SLOTS AND CHARACTER ACTIONS.
During application processes, you may apply with one character. Once accepted into the server, you gain an extra slot, giving you a total of two. This slot may be used however you wish, whether you want another OC in the same Clan or a different one.
After a months time from the opening, you may create as many characters as you want. This is to ensure that you do not burn yourself out or spread yourself too thin by joining and immediately making a character for each Clan.
2a. The above applies to each tumblr opening and new acceptances.
You may have as many active roleplays as you wish! Just do be sure to not overwhelm yourself. As stated before, if you feel as though you will not be able to continue a roleplay for any reason, please let your partner know!
You control your characters and your characters only. Do not powerplay or godmod others’ characters. If you need an important NPC filled in, notify staff! You may control minor NPCs, such as mentioning cats in passing or a family member to your character, but please try not to overdo this in your threads by having full conversations. There will be specific channels for solo writing.
Any border fights, skirmishes, or cross-clan relations should be reported to the Storykeeper! This is to ensure everything is being kept track of and nothing gets muddled.
Remember, in game rules (such as the Code and individual Clan rules) exist for a reason! If your character is caught breaking the rules, they will be adequately dealt with by their respective high ranks. Actions have consequences!

ART & AI
The usage of AI for writing or generating art is strictly prohibited in Ever Rain. The usage of such will be considered plagiarism / theft, and you will be kicked.
Art theft is prohibited, and if you are found to be claiming art that is not yours, you will be kicked. If you are using art that does not belong to you, please credit the artist, even if the character in question belongs to you.
The same goes for posting art in any channel. Please credit the artist!
Photographs used must be from a royalty free site such as Unsplash or Pexels (this does not require credit) or properly credited to the photographer.

COMMON COURTESY
In-game views do not translate to outside game views and mannerisms. Do not treat your fellow server members poorly due to in-game drama, this will result in a strike and continuous breaking of this rule will ultimately result in a kick or ban.
Be nice to each other. Include each other and try to get to know and plot with one another! Being left out never feels good. Again, it is of utmost importance that this is a comfortable place for everyone. You do not by any means have to be best friends with everyone in the server or like everyone, but you are expected to remain courteous and polite with one another. If you are found to be purposely ignoring or excluding people, staff will contact you and other parties to sort it out.
As stated many times before, if a specific topic makes you uncomfortable you are within your full right to ask for it to be dropped.
