Our Philosophy is grounded in the belief that young children learn best through hands-on exploration, meaningful experiences, and - most importantly - play. Children are naturally curious, and early exposure to STEAM concepts—science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics—supports problem-solving skills, creativity, and independence, while establishing a strong foundation in learning.
Our Philosophy is grounded in the belief that young children learn best through hands-on exploration, meaningful experiences, and - most importantly - play. Our approach is informed by research in child development and education, aligning with key principles and philosophies found in Reggio, Montessori, and Waldorf to create a custom made approach that nurtures the individual needs of each child. Through guided discovery, open-ended activities, and age-appropriate STEAM experiences, children are encouraged to ask questions, test ideas, think critically and explore how the world works through a collaborative approach. Experiences are thoughtfully designed - and aligned with Next Generational Science Standards- to support early scientific thinking while honoring each child’s developmental stage, interests, and learning style.

Hello!
My family and I moved from Alaska in the spring of 2026 and we have been enjoying exploring the Spokane area, from its beautiful playgrounds to having fun at story time within our local library. I want to also contribute to our new found homebase (no more moving for this military wife and family- woohoo!) by bringing Evergreen Little Explorers to the Mead/Spokane area!
My name is Kara, or Mrs. K, and I hold a bachelor's degree in Biology Education from Western Govenerors University. In compliance with DCYF’s licensing and training regulations, I also hold valid first aid and CPR certification, a Washington’s State Food Handler’s Card, and have undergone and passed the Washington State background check. My experience ranges from tutoring, student teaching, working as a paraprofessional to teaching a modified science class at the highschool level. If there is one way to sum it up, it is this: I am very passionate about education and creating learning environments that encourage scientific exploration through questioning, experimentation, and critical thinking in developmentally appropriate ways.
