How does the Daily Drop In Program work?
Daily Drop In is available based on openings and is not guaranteed on a daily basis as we maintain and follow staff to child ratios. Openings may become available with little notice due to cancellations, scheduled absences or changes in enrollment. Families interested in drop-in care are welcome to reach out to check availability, but care is only confirmed once an opening has been approved and reserved. Registration is required for drop in care.
Can parents visit or tour the preschool?
Absolutely! Please use the contact form or email evergreenlittle.explorers@gmail.com to schedule a tour to meet the provider, see the learning environment, and ask questions.
Do you have a waitlist?
If a spot is not currently available, families may join our waitlist and will be contacted when openings occur.
How do you communicate with parents?
Communication is a top priority at our in-home preschool!
Families can stay informed through monthly newsletters that outline upcoming themes, learning goals, and classroom activities, daily verbal check-ins at drop-off and pick-up to share updates about your child’s day, accomplishments, and any important information, along with one-on-one meetings as needed to discuss your child’s progress, developmental milestones, and individual needs.
If you have a preferred method of communication, please let the provider know during enrollment so your needs are met!
How do you handle behavior concerns?
First, let’s identify how we do NOT handle behavior concerns. We do not handle misbehavior through shame, humiliation, bribery, or aggression.
Evergreen little explorers follows the philosophy on positive behavior guidance. This looks like:
- Maintaining developmentally age appropriate expectations
- Modeling these expectations
- Praise and acknowledgement for appropriate behaviors
- Redirection as needed
As mentioned above, communication is very important and we will communicate with you on behaviors that may be of concern. I do want to make clear that expulsion is a last resort, however, if your child’s behavior poses a serious risk to the health, safety, or welfare of children or the provider, care will be stopped immediately.
What happens if my child is sick?
Children who are ill should remain home according to our illness policy. Check out our parent handbook for more information!
Is there a nap or quiet time?
Yes, we provide a daily quiet time for rest and relaxation. We do not force “nap” and just encourage children to take a needed break to de-stimulate through quiet activities such as looking at a book, listening to clam music, coloring etc.
Does my child need to be potty trained?
Yes! The provider will not be actively potty training, meaning changing diapers or pull-ups. The provider will verbally give plenty of reminders to take breaks to use the bathroom and will aid in the bathroom as needed with handwashing or if the child asks for help. Accidents happen, which is ok, however it is expected that your child is potty trained when they are enrolled.
Do you provide meals and snacks?
Breakfast lunch and a snack are provided! If you’re participating only in the preschool program, it will just be lunch and a snack due to scheduling.
Do you have pets?
We currently have two cherry head tortoises, but due to their young ages they will stay in the cozy office during operating hours.
Are you licensed?
We are licensed and participate in Early Achievers!
