apply the knowledge I gain in college to build boats and develop
I have not decided on a career path yet, but the field I want to pursue is either mechanical engineering or naval architecture. My interest in the subject came from my uncle and my dad. My uncle has a degree in mechanical engineering and owns a business that makes medical devices. I went to his lab occasionally to see what he was working on, and it always piqued my curiosity. My dad has a major in computer science, and he has been working at smaller tech companies. Also, being part of my local robotics program helped me to start learning about engineering. I decided to pursue an engineering-related field after exploring various colleges and participating in robotics competitions.
So far, I have taken calculus to get ahead in math and AP physics. These will allow me to get ahead with prior knowledge for this engineering class. The Engineering program at the tech center will enable me to obtain the necessary certifications, which will help me excel in college classes and demonstrate my capabilities to employers. An engineering class will allow me to significantly improve my skills in the engineering process and problem design. With this, I will be able to excel in all future courses that are required for a future career. I have learned a lot about drafting, other programs, and electronics.
For clubs and extracurricular activities, I am a part of my local Robotics team, The RoboBees. The RoboBees compete on the world level in FRC, and I also compete in NHRL, which is a Large-scale Combat robotics competition. I have made it to the world championships in combat robotics. First, some schools offer scholarships for robotics, providing you with extensive design and networking experience. My first job was working at a Sailing summer camp. I learned from this camp that speaking up for yourself is very important.
Once I graduate from High school, I plan to attend a four-year college. This will be primarily for engineering, such as mechanical or other types. Currently, my plan will not change unless I go to a different style of school. After college, I plan to find a base job, either as a contractor or a naval architect. I want to take the knowledge I learn in college to be able to build boats and new technology.
Once I have achieved my goals, I will probably see my local FRC or Robotics teams and volunteer as a mentor. I will try to keep doing combat robotics if there is time for it. I wish to help other kids grow and compete, enabling them to achieve their dreams in engineering fields. Hopefully, I can join a group that will make a life-changing device that will either help people heal or solve a world problem. I want to make sure anything I do will have a positive impact on the world.
