Context: the following lesson has been planned for a group of 4th year ACCOUNTING students in a bilingual school. Their level of English is advanced/proficient since they are getting ready for their A level exams.
The goal of the lesson is to revise the theory from a unit in Business Finance and apply their knowledge into a case analysys activity.
ACTIVATION: the Teacher will show a raw short in which the different sources of business finance for LTD. companies. Then, Students will brainstorm and expand on the theory so as to put in common what they remember.
APPLICATION:
Pre-reading: the Teacher will ask the Students "In which cases would a company need internal sources of finance? And external sources?" The Students will be divided into 2 groups, they will have to come up with examples/different possibilities within each source.
Reading: Students will read the case called "EIB loans $30 million for aeronautics R&D". They will get into groups of 3 and analyse the case.
After reading: Students will gather their information and put it in a simple raw short they will share on Google Classroom. They will have a tutorial at hand and the help of the Teacher, should they need it.
REFLECTION: short kahoot game on the PROs and CONs of each finance source.
