Early Alert is committed to your students’ success!
EVC's Early Alert tool is designed to facilitate and coordinate communication between instructors, students, student services, and campus tutoring.
This communication all starts with you.
Once you submit an alert, the Early Alert tool will send an automated email to students, reflecting the types of alerts you've indicated and you will receive a carbon copy. Instantaneously, the service areas begin follow up services.
Please be sure to use your network email address as your username (firstname.lastname@evc.edu).
Use the drop down menu to select the course you would like to submit alerts for.
All the courses you teach will appear here.
Note: Please do not begin by adding the student ID.
Once you select the course, the roster will appear. Please select the student(s) you would like to submit an alert for.
Tip: group students that need the same alerts together to save time!
Select one or more "Areas for Support" that relate to the alert you are creating. Services for the areas you select will automatically appear.
New* You have the option to select one or more "Kudos" for positive academic performance.
You have the option to select a "Current Course Grade," add a "Message to Student" and "Message to Service Area(s)."
Click "Submit" and the Early Alert will automatically email the student and designated on-campus services. A carbon copy email will be sent to you as confirmation.
Early Alerts trigger automatic interventions from: Tutoring, Counseling, and the First Stop Center.
Early Alert employs a case management strategy where we provide our special programs with a roster of their students identified on Early Alert, allowing them to carry out tailored interventions. Additionally, the Early Alert team conducts follow-up services for students who are not currently affiliated with a special program.
This gives key players adequate time to provide the necessary follow up services for each student. This also gives the student enough time to access tutoring and get back on track before finals.
Several studies have shown that positive reinforcement plays a significant role in increasing student academic performance. Faculty can submit Kudos until the final day of the semester.
We have a tutorial for that, too!
