Homeownership and the American Dream

Welcome to my page! My name is Dani Villasin, a current student at Everett Community College. I have spent the last 25 years working in the banking and mortgage industry and it is evident that there has been and continues to be unequal access to homeownership. Through my studies at EVCC, I also better understand some of the reasons why.

At Everett Community College, I have studied concepts of diversity, in particular the history of Power and Privilege in the United States in order to better understand our social issues to be positioned to help change the future.

It is not only government policies that have created barriers to upward mobility, but also deeply held bias and long-standing social issues such as racism and sexism that create socioeconomic disparities and have supported White Supremacy and Patriarchy.

I will be attending University of WA-Bothell in Fall 2023, majoring in American and Ethnic Studies. My goal is to work in local government or an organization to create and implement programs that provide greater access to homeownership and financial wellness for all Americans.
