Home Equity as Wealth

Household home equity

Home equity totals are much lower rates in the BIPOC community when compared to White homeowners and Black homeowners have the lowest home equity accumulation at all age groups. This impacts the entire family as the ability to pass on generational wealth is often from home equity.

Black Americans unequal access to homeownership based on hundreds of years of racist policy and public sentiment left them unable to experience accumulation of generational wealth.
