Canadian Elite Academy Beach Volleyball Procedures
This document is an evergreen document which means it will change and adapt based on the regulations and facts from governing bodies. We at the academy would like to begin as soon as possible but cannot jeopardize the safety of the participants or the status of the health with the province of Saskatchewan.
The governing bodies to consider in the development of this document are:
- The government of Saskatchewan
- The health authorities in Saskatchewan
- The Sports governing body (Saskatchewan Volleyball)
- The facility owners (Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools)
- The Insurance company coverage (The Co-operators – O’Reilly Insurance Ltd)
- The Coaching Team at the Academy
- The involved participating athletes' parents/guardians.
The guiding principles for developing the phases are:
- The academy will adhere to all public health restrictions set by the government concerning group gatherings and facility access
- The participant's safety is the concern of the process and will be paramount in the decisions made to move the phases forward. Any athlete with symptoms of a cold/flu or COVID-19, or are at higher risk or who have underlying health conditions should not participate.
- Group sizes will be limited to the restrictions set out by the health authority in Saskatchewan
- Physical distancing will be adhered to and maintained and will continue until the health authority changes the 2 meters restriction.
- All activity in Phase one will be skill-based, individual or pairs, and recreational based training. Competition and group drills will be introduced in later phases
- Equipment cleaning, social distancing measures, health screening, safety process, and waivers will need to be enforced by the academy, participants, and parents/guardians as a team to allow further participation of athletes in the training.
- The academy believes “A single participant cannot hinder the development or health of the group by not following the regulation or procedure.” The risks and liability associated with the implementation of the training will be pushed down from the government to the sport governing body to the academy to the participant to the parent/guardian. The decision to participate in the training needs to be approved by each of the levels and is not unique to the Academy or beach volleyball
- The decision to participate in the training ultimately belongs to the most important decision-maker in the group, the parents who registered the athlete to participate.

- A waiver form will be designed for the parents and one will also be designed for the participants.
- The rules and processes set up by the academy will be enforced and will result in the removal of any participant who does not adhere. The safety of all participants is paramount in our ability to open and continue the training.
The start date will be determined by the factors and governing bodies if a portion of the training is lost the academy will refund all registered teams a pro-rated amount based on the number of sessions that play was possible. If the complete session is canceled the full refund will be given. The full registration pre-paid in this uncertain time reserves participants a spot in the training and allows the academy to start rapidly when given the green light. However, if you would prefer a refund a full refund will be given but a spot within the group will not be saved if and when we begin.
