New research on LGBTQ+ mental health, SDOH, and suicide risk.
On May 26th, I hosted an interactive, informational workshop: "Queer Mental Health and Suicide Risk: A Workshop on Recent Research, Lived Experience, and Building Resilience" at the UCSC Cantú Queer Center.
In this session, I dove into my personal story of why I pursue research, why sexual and gender diverse (SGD) mental health is important, suicide risk for SGD populations, my recent research publication, myths and facts about suicide, and skill building around suicide assessment.
We had extremely insightful conversations about why talking about suicide is difficult but important, the weight of facing stigma as sexual and gender diverse individuals, and how to be an effective ally.
I will be attending the Active Minds Hill Day & Mental Health Conference 2026 which is the nation’s leading mental health conference for young adults.
I am thrilled to join other young adults and mental health advocates from across the country to share ideas and advance knowledge about mental health education, advocacy, and awareness.
I am especially looking forward to Hill Day, where we will go to Capitol Hill and break out into teams to meet with various representatives from Congress to advocate for vital mental health policies.
