From the EUV board W. Krell, E.Baldas and V.Ivanov took part in the 27th IAVE World Volunteer Conference, October 22nd - 25th 2024, in Busan / South Korea. Focus of the conference: People Power – Creating a Sustainable Future through Volunteering. Wolfgang and Eugen were moderating a seminar “God Health & Well Being (SDG 3) – Volunteering to Combat Isolation and Create Healthy Communities”.

Medal of Honor for Volunteering in Europe March 2024
The Medal of Honor for Volunteering in Europe was given to Viola Krebs in March 2024 in Geneve after she was unable to recieve it in Lyon in 2023. The award was given at a conference organized by ICE as the ICE organization celebrated its 25th anniversary in collaboration with the EUV. Gerhard Ermischer, President of International NGOs of the Council of Europe presented the medal of honor to Viola Krebs who also chaired the conference. The conference was about Artifical Intelligence (AI), Democracy and Citizenship. There was given a short speach from the president of the EUV, Eugen Baldas about the contribution from Viola Krebs.

The Medal of Honor for Volunteering in Europe was awarded in December 2023 in Lyon to several people who have made outstanding contributions to voluntary work in Europe. The award ceremony was organized by The Association for Volunteering in Europe (AVE). Gerhard Ermischer, President of the Conference of International NGOs of the Council of Europe, chaired the ceremony and presented the medal of honor to each person. Among those honored persons were Viola Krebs, General Secretaire of EUV and professor in Geneva. While Eugen Baldas, President of the EUV, was unable to attend the 2022 ceremony in Strasbourg, he received the Medal of Honor now in Lyon.
In his short speech he gave an overview of the EVU's previous activities; he thanked Odile Boisson de Chazournes, President of AVE, and Ascensio Garcia, General Secretaire of AVE, for the comprehensive organization of the ceremony.

UNESCO Chair of the University of Strasbourg Symposium focuses on "Social Networks and Digital Services"
in Geneva
Hosted by the Center Universitaire d'Informatique (CUI) of the University of Geneva from 23 to 24 March 2023, the UNESCO Chair of the University of Strasbourg Symposium focused on "Social Media and Digital Services: Business, Innovation and Sustainability". This Symposium brought together international researchers, representatives of the civil society, business sector and government. Among the topics covered were education and digital citizenship, robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), media content (info or intox), linguistic and cultural diversity, cybersecurity, the business model of the Web, the digital world and sustainability.

In October 2022, Eugen Baldas, EUV President, received the Medal of Honor for volunteering in Europe. The medal was introduced at the suggestion of the Association pour le Voluntariat à l’acte gratuit en Europe (AVE) and is awarded by the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

Peace Forum 2021 in Istanbul
18-22 August 2021, Prof. Dr. Viacheslav Ivanov participated as an honorary speaker at the 6th session of the International Peace Forum for Volunteering and Electronic Media.
The International Organization for Volunteerism (Chicago, USA) and International Academy for Comprehensive Development I.A.F.C.D. Eğitim (Ankara, Turkey) were the organizers of the Forum. The Intrex Exhibition conference agency (Izmir, Turkey) supplied pro bono the professional organization of the event.
Prof. Ivanov presented his report Volunteering in Russia and Central Asia during Pandemic to the international audience. The report described the result of research carried out by the Centre for Studies of Civil Society and the Non-profit Sector of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. The topic was about the involvement of Russians in volunteering during the pandemic and the contribution of volunteers to solving social problems. In addition, he presented the data on new models of innovative partnerships between people and states that could help form a sustainable and inclusive social contract between the government and volunteer groups in the CIS countries. This is a research initiative with the UN Volunteers to contribute to the State of the World’s Volunteerism Report 2022.
During the Forum, Prof. Ivanov created partnerships with a number of civil society organizations operating in volunteering and philanthropy.

The EUV was a partner in preparing the 25th IAVE World Volunteer Conference in Augsburg "Our Responsibility for the Global Future". Board Members of the EUV attended the preparing partner conference in September 2017 in Augsburg and the World Volunteer Conference in Oktober 2018 in Augsburg. There were also contributions at the World Youth Conference in Augsburg - just before the WVC started.
International Youth Festival in Sochi 2017
The EUV-Board attended the Word Festival of Youth and Students, 14th – 22nd October 2017 in Sochi, Russia. Main goal: For peace, Solidarity and social justice, we struggle against imperialism. Honoring our past, we build the future. All members of the EUV Board were involved in the Civil Platform of Development with different talks and training in volunteering. The young participants of the festiva were really interested in civil engagement, in a long term Voluntary service, in starting an own voluntary activity and in setting up suitable conditions to attract and retain volunteers. Looking back to the topic "Sochi 2017" in the time of the Russian war against Ukraine at Easter 2022 the question is: What remains in these days for the young people from the many ideas on the subject "For peace, justice, solidarity and social justice"?
