➡️ TO BE READ IN ADVANCE: Instructions to take your tickets
How to get train and bus tickets?
Use the “Ile de France mobilité” app on your smartphone. The download link is available at https://www.iledefrance-mobilites.fr/en/application
It allows buying tickets directly on your smartphone, or buying tickets that are loaded on your "Navigo Easy" pass
If you don't use your smartphone to buy tickets, you can buy a “Navigo Easy” pass at a metro/train station. It is a kind of Metro Card on which you can then load your tickets (bought at the station, 2 €).
Note that you can always use your smartphone afterwards to reload your “Navigo Easy” pass.
If you are lost, do not hesitate to go to the ticket office for assistance.
Tickets to be loaded on your smartphone or on the "Navigo Easy" pass at the airport:
Buy only 1 ticket “Paris region Aéroport” to get from Roissy or Orly Airport to any metro-train-RER station: 13 €
Buy 3 “bus-tram” tickets (€ 2 each):
1 to take the bus to the residence on the day of your arrival,
1 to go to the building "Bâtiment 503" on June 9th for the first day of the summer school (see below),
1 to take the return bus from the residence to the train station.
Beware:
For technical reason you cannot load on your smartphone or pass both a “Paris region Aéroport” ticket and a metro-train-RER ticket. So for example, if you plan to take the RER B train to go to Paris during your stay, don’t buy a “Paris region Aéroport” return ticket, you can buy the return ticket later, no problem.
An application for routes and timetables: citymapper
To find timetables or route information, you can install the citymapper app on your smartphone, which is very useful (also available on the web).
From airports to Massy-Palaiseau RER B train station (“Paris region Aéroport” ticket, 13 €)
Roissy Airport: Take south-bound RER B (direction "Saint-Rémy-les-Chevreuses" or "Massy-Palaiseau") to Massy-Palaiseau station
Work is being carried out on the RER B line, so part of the line is out of service, but there is a replacement bus.
Orly Airport: Take the "Orlyval" automatic metro to Antony (RER B). Take south-bound train to Massy-Palaiseau.
From Massy-Palaiseau RER B train station to the residence (bus-tram ticket, 2 €)
At Massy-Palaiseau, take exit in front of train and follow signs to "gare routière Atlantis-Sud", then to "bus 91.06" (down the stairs).
Take Bus 91.06 to bus stop "Ferme de la Vauve" for All Suites or "Place Marguerite Perey" for Kley.
On Sundays and holiday, there is only 1 bus per hour, the whole schedule can be dowloaded here.
