WHAT ARE COOKIES AND WHAT THEY NEED
Cookies are text files that visited sites send to the user's browser and are stored before being re-transmitted to the site at the next visit. They can be used to monitor sessions, to authenticate a user so that he can access a site, without ever typing his name and password, and to memorize his preferences.
The so-called technical cookies are used for navigation and to facilitate access and use of the site by the user. Technical cookies are essential for example to access Google or Google Play or Apple Store without having to log in to all sessions.
Cookies are called technical if used for the purposes of site optimization directly by the owner of the site, which can collect information in aggregate form on the number of users and how they visit the site.
PROFILING COOKIES
Cookies are defined as profiling if used to track the user's navigation, to create profiles on his tastes, his preferences, his interests and also on his research. If you happened to see banner ads related to a product that you have just searched on the internet, the reason lies in the profiling of your interests and the servers, appropriately directed by cookies, have shown you the ads considered most relevant.
For the installation of technical cookies no consent is required while profiling cookies can be installed in the user's terminal only after the latter has given consent and after being informed in a simplified way.
SHORT INFORMATION BANNER
The Privacy Guarantor has established that when the user accesses a website, a banner containing a brief information, a request for consent and a link to the more extensive information, such as the one on this page, must appear. on what profiling cookies are and how they are used on the site.
The banner must be designed to hide part of the page content and specify that the site uses profiling cookies, including those of third parties. The banner must be able to be deleted only with an active action by the user as it could be a click. It must contain the short information, the link to the extended information and the button to give consent to the use of profiling cookies.
It is permitted that a technical cookie is used that takes into account the user's consent, so that the user does not have to re-express consent in a subsequent visit to the site. Instead in the extended information (this same page), you must illustrate the characteristics of cookies installed by third parties. The user must also indicate how to navigate the site without his preferences being traced with the possibility of browsing incognito and deleting individual cookies.

WHAT IS THE GDPR
On 25 May 2018 comes into force the GDPR, acronym of General Data Protection Regulation, issued by the European Union on April 27, 2016 and valid for all subjects of the Union or operating in the EU without the need for any ratification by individual states .
The GDPR is a legislative instrument that serves to standardize the privacy legislation at European level and replaces the legislative decree 196/2003. The subjects required to adapt are the following:
Companies and organizations operating in a third country but having customers in the EU.
The aim is to increase the level of trust of Europeans towards all individuals, private or public, who work daily with their personal, sensitive or confidential information. Any fines for offenders for non-compliance with the GDPR will not be immediate. It will start with a warning, then with a reprimand, then with a suspension of data processing, and in case of continued violation of the rule, only then could the fines be received.
The first obligation is to have a Privacy Policy, or a document that illustrates how private data are processed. This information must be updated and contain:
- the purpose of data processing
- the mode of this treatment
third-party subjects that store, control and use this data through applications or technologies installed on sites such as Google, Facebook and other players in the sector
the rights of the navigator
The particulars of the data controller or the site administrator.
There must be a legal basis for the processing of personal data and the presence of a user's consent to one or more purposes of this data processing.
PRIVACY OF GOOGLE AND FACEBOOK
Google is the largest internet player with Facebook and together they are the largest repositories of data processing of users who visit the various sites. Google has published a very extensive and detailed guide on its Privacy Policy and an updated version of it based on the GDPR. The management of our privacy is mainly done by accessing our personal account on Google. In particular in the Privacy section, we can check what Google knows about our account and the register of our activities.
In Task Manager we can choose the activities that can be saved in our Google account. Browsing history on Chrome and on sites and apps that use services can be saved. Click on 1) Manage History to view the activity on Chrome, Android or other device. Click on Change setting and move the cursor to prevent Google from keeping track of our activity.
Viewing the area 2) My activity can view the recent activity and eventually delete it. There are cursors or On / Off controls to manage location history, web and app activity, YouTube search history, and more, on all the devices on which we log in with our account.
In this context, the Privacy Control is particularly relevant. You go on Start now to customize our experience on Google. The first screen is for Web Activities and Apps and will display information if this setting is active or not. Google stores searches and other activities carried out by loggers. It also stores activities such as apps you use, Chrome history, and sites you visit on the web. This setting allows Google to deliver results faster by automatically completing searches, as well as providing more efficient experiences in Maps, the Assistant, and other Google services.
You can get more detailed information from the Search Activity instructions page. To change the settings, click on Manage web activity and App -> Change setting.
The rules followed by Facebook in relation to the protection of privacy are summarized in the page dedicated to GDPR. The principles that inspire Facebook are those of transparency, control and reliability.
