Emotion is conceptualised and addressed based on research evidence attempting to explain emotional processes. Researchers like Toates (2001), Damasio (2000), Wickens (2005) and Ekman (2007), have organised knowledge about emotion around aspects of the phenomenon under investigation:
• Physiological activation (e.g. heart rate, skin temperature)
• Behaviour (e.g. time response, eye blink)
• Cognitive evaluation of a situation (e.g. appraisal)
• Subjective experience (e.g. reflection)
Emotional decision making issues will be addressed on these four aspects of emotion. Individual belief system and faith are respected and of course will influence the development of one's emotional decision making.
