Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is available at some UCs and all CSUs. EOP is a program provided to support economically and educationally disadvantaged students attending four-year universities. CSU’s require you to fill out a separate application to apply for the program. The UC does not require a separate application (the personal insight questions and financial information is used to determine if a student qualifies).
You should compose your short essays in a word-processed document (e.g., MS Word or Google Doc) and then copy and paste them into the Cal State Apply. Your responses to each question should be a minimum of 1-2 paragraphs. Content, spelling, and grammar are important!

UC Personal Insight Questions (PIQ)
What are the Personal Insight Questions?
These questions are about getting to know you better - your life experiences, interests, ambitions and inspirations. Think of it as your interview with the admissions office. Be open and reflective. Find your individual voice to express it. You will have 8 questions to choose from. You must respond to any 4 of the 8 questions. Each response is limited to a maximum of 350 words.
Which questions you choose to answer is entirely up to you. But you should select questions that are most relevant to your experiences and best reflects your individual circumstances. All questions are given equal consideration in the application review process, which means there is no advantage or disadvantage to choosing certain questions over others.

If you missed the deadline or maybe you weren't accepted for EOP or SSS at Chico State, then REACH might be a great program for you.
This program is geared to help you with your first year, transitioning from high school to college.
Each REACH student is provided a peer mentor who works one-on-one with the student to ensure their academic success, with additional support from faculty mentors as well.
REACH participants also gain a sense of community by becoming a part of a collaborative hub of nine other students whom they study with weekly.
At these weekly study jams, students are able to collaborate and help one another learn the material covered in their courses.
In addition, hubs are provided the opportunity to plan and attend an event of their choice each month.
In doing so, students form bonds with other REACH participants, their mentors and faculty. These events also allow them to explore Chico and feel a greater connection to the community. This allows students to create long lasting friendships and relationships with others on campus, which aids in increasing students’ potential for success!
