Our mission is to champion public education by engaging our
community to foster schools that are welcoming for all.
To champion public education: Strongly advocate for and affirm the value of public education, recognizing it as a cornerstone for societal progress.
To embrace diversity and inclusivity: Support and affirm LGBTQIA+ students and those in marginalized communities within the educational setting.
To trust and respect educators: Foster an environment that values and respects the expertise and professionalism of teachers and staff members, recognizing their crucial role in shaping future generations.
To affirm the separation of church and state: acknowledge that public schools should remain secular while respecting the personal beliefs of individuals.
Common Sense meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month at 6pm at the United Church of Christ (UCC), 247 S. Market Street, Elizabethtown. Enter through the rear door across from Papa John's. We'd love to see you there!

The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros
Acclaimed by critics, beloved by readers of all ages, taught everywhere from inner-city grade schools to universities across the country, and translated all over the world, The House on Mango Street is the remarkable story of Esperanza Cordero.
Told in a series of vignettes – sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes deeply joyous–it is the story of a young Latina girl growing up in Chicago, inventing for herself who and what she will become. Few other books in our time have touched so many readers.
