Please begin collecting recycled materials. These will be used for Friday’s experience.
Some examples are:
Boxes of different sizes (Tissue box, cereal box, shoe box etc.)
Paper towel rolls
Old t-shirts or any fabric
Recycled papers
Magazines
Wrapping paper
Egg Carton
Milk Carton (cleaned and dried)
Bottle caps

1.Invite your child to choose a colorful sheet of construction paper to fold into an accordion. Alternatively, you can use plain white construction paper and invite your child to draw colorful patterns on their fans.
邀请您的孩子选一张彩色美术纸,将纸折成纸扇。您的孩子也可以选择白色美术纸然后在纸上画上彩色图案。
2. Start at one end and fold about an inch of paper up. Next, turn the paper over and fold another inch. Repeat until the entire paper has been folded. Guide your child as and when necessary. Do this step slowly and follow your child’s pace.
先从纸的一端开始折大概一寸,然后将纸翻面继续折。重复步骤直到一整张纸都折好了。若有需要,指导您的孩子,放慢动作以确保孩子跟得上步骤。
5. When the fan is not in use, close it and wrap a rubber band or string around it.

3. Fold the accordion in half and glue the 2 sides together.

4. Use Glue or tape to secure two standard-sized wooden craft sticks to the bottom of the fan. This will allow children to easily open and close their fan.

Invite your child to continue practicing paper folding fan with variety of papers. This will help them strengthen fine motor skills, and eye-hand coordination which are important skills to develop for writing in the future.

While doing this activity your child will practice counting while learning number recognition and one to one correspondence.

Begin by tracing around a cup on paper (total of 5 or 10 circles depending on your child’s needs).

Write numbers on the bottom of the paper cups that will correspond to the numbers represented in each circle.

Increase the numbers accordingly e.g. if your child can match 1-5 increase it to 1-10, 1-15 etc.

Choose 1 book you have at home with illustrations (preferably one your child is not very familiar with)

Reading the story
Vary the pace of your reading, as well as how loud you read. Changing your voice and expression for different characters can also be fun.

Use your finger to trace the words while you read.

Let your child turn the pages of the book themselves.

Ask your child some questions about the story – for example, ‘What do you think happens next?’, ‘Why is the baby happy?’ and ‘Who has the ball?’.

Invite your child to share verbally their favourite part of the story:

Invite your child to draw their favourite part and write what they have said above next to their drawing. Read what you have written. Use your finger to trace the words while you read.

Your child may choose to just label the items drawn instead of a story.... this is fine. Write whatever your child chooses to say. Most important point is to help your child understand that what we say can be written into words.

Invite your child to name at least 5 of their favourite animals. Write the names of animals (1 on each paper = total 5 animals)

Invite your child to draw the animal next to the words you have written.

Talk about how each animal would jump or move and then encourage your child to practice these movements.

Tell your child that you are going to play some music or song and they will have to dance.

Invite your child to only give you name of animals that jump, or animals that crawl etc....

Play the action song and practice moving ‘fast’ and ‘slow’ with your child.
