Poem of Twenty Thousand Lueges Under the Sea
Once set towards glory
Mere men of earth
Sent to destroy the monster below the surf
Swept all away as her sister took hold
Sank beneath the waves their stories foretold
Met men of mystery
Machines of steel
They'd been watching waiting
The waves did conceal
Prisoners were oh these foolish men of earth
But rewarded they were
With knowledge and thought
Fattened their minds as all men ought
They saw wonder beyond wonder
Sights beyond sight
Discovered discoveries where there is no light
Till the captains head raised and taste of the wind
There was a storm coming straight and it rallied for sin
They battled all day
Yes all day and all night
Until marrow showed her beautiful light
And after it ended and they returned home
Strong still was their love for the sea,
the world beneath foam.
