My selection criteria emphasized creating a journey through diverse musical expressions that would communicate the breadth of human experience, from Azerbaijan's bagpipes to Bach's violin, from Georgian polyphonic choir to Chuck Berry's rock and roll. I prioritized variety in instrumentation (solo voices, choirs, percussion, strings, and winds), cultural origins (spanning five continents with selections from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Australia, America, Africa, Europe, and India), and the range of emotions music can express (from the meditative qualities of the Navajo Night Chant to the exuberance of "Johnny B. Goode"). This curated collection offers a comprehensive yet concise sonic portrait of humanity's musical diversity.
