objective of this project

To explore holograms as an emerging and potential form of educational technology for future classroom use. If you're interested in how holograms work, whether they can be applied to mobile technology and education or what the future outlook is, this OER is designed to answer all those questions while forecasting the (i) feasibility (ii) sustainability and (iii) effectiveness of holograms in education.

who is this OER for?

Students, Teachers, Course Designers, Entrepreneurs, Technology enthusiasts who are interested in how holograms work or curious to see whether there is a future for holograms in the education space.

Hi everyone! This is John. I’ve been teaching for around 8 years as a Business Lecturer/Educator, mainly focusing on teaching Management, Organizational Behaviour and Entrepreneurship to undergraduate Years 1-4 BBA students and adult learners (for corporate training). Though in the recent years I’ve shifted my attention to business/venture based projects as a way to gain new perspectives on my career.

As a fan of science fiction movies and media, I was always intrigued by holograms as a form of technology. While I don't particularly understand the physics and in depth science behind their workings (I'm not a scientist), I often like to envision what it would be like for students to learn through holograms.

In particular, to this day I remember going on a school field trip in primary school where our class visited the Vancouver Planetarium and learnt about the solar system through holographic projections. This left a massive impression on me as it was such as awe inspiring and memorable learning experience. Even with the power of the Internet, I have yet to experience a classroom medium which was impactful as that. As I believe education should strive to find new ways to engage learners through technology, this one of the main inspirations behind the creation of this OER.

That being said, innovation and creativity are the main keywords which I hope to bring out in this OER while discovering new ways to explore how holograms can impact our lives, how it fits into our current lifestyles and forecasting what’s to come in the future.
