Reflection
This deep dive into Lovable and other Vibe-Coding apps has been an eye opening experience for me. There are countless applications for these platforms and I expect a tidal wave of innovation coming now that so many would-be entrepreneurs are no longer restricted by their own lack of technical abilities. Thinking about these tools and how they are going to upend approaches to coding in the classroom was also a really fascinating thought exercise. I found some references to it (ie. Girls Who Code) but this truly appears to be fresh new ground to be explored, at least in K-12 schools. Digging in to the financial details of these companies and their dizzying growth rates was also a very worthwhile exercise for me as I continue to gain a better grasp of how quickly things can and do move when startups have a great idea and do a great job of executing on their vision. There are many lessons I will take from this exercise as I look ahead to Assignment #3, particularly the importance of finding truly impactful applications for AI that don't merely speed up or automate existing processes, but that open doors to opportunities and processes that could not have existed previously.
Use of AI
I used a few different AI tools for this assignment including ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, and Perplexity. ChatGPT helped me craft a structure and refine my approach to this project, while Perplexity was very helpful in locating a range of different resources on Lovable and Vibe-Coding in general. To finish things off, Copilot helped me create a couple of infographics and Claude helped me revise and refine the copy on my Google Site. I feel compelled to note that some of these companies are so new that Claude disputed the existence of some of them, especially Base44.
