Overarching Mentor Responsibilities: 

• Provide support and introduce new students to resources and services to help them adjust academically and socially in Dominican University

• Provide personal and professional enrichment opportunities for students

• Planning and participate in fall and spring training activities academic and social adjustment at the university

• Attend the requisite number of socials and programs that are coordinated by the mentoring executive team

• Complete monthly contact forms to provide updates to the mentoring team regarding your assigned mentee group’s progress 

• Build sense of community, connection, and belonging and participate in an end-of-year assessment

• Help raise awareness in the community about challenges that these student face 

Specific Functions:

• Transitions Student Liaison

• Assist with Transitions student activities

• Assist with recruitment efforts (Transitions > Estrellas)

• Assist with various projects and reports

• Lead event planning efforts

• Help lead/delegate the organization and responsibilities of ESTRELLAS Mentors

• Community Development and Identity Intern (Estrellas Mentor)

• In strategic communication with the other mentors, create outreach initiatives to foster engagement and community building

• Leadership and Multicultural Education Intern (Estrellas Mentor)

• Lead or identify programs or speakers focused on leadership skills and leadership identities

• Lead or identify programs or speakers focused on intercultural dialogue, awareness and social justice

• Marketing and Special Projects Intern (Estrellas Mentor)

• Help with marketing initiatives for programs, events and meetings

• Provide students information on campus clubs and initiatives, including professional development opportunities

• Cultural and Equity Awareness Intern (Estrellas Mentor)

• Lead planning for programs on social identity and personal development

• Identify professional speakers who can host events and/or off-campus events and opportunities; assist with coordinating logistics

• Self-Community Care Intern (Estrellas Mentor)

• Help students became familiar with the Wellness Center at Dominican University, as well as other resources outside of Dominican

• Create initiatives that contribute to the self-care and emotional well-being of our Mentors and Mentees
