Qualifications:
Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
Good academic and judicial standing with minimum GPA of 2.5
Good interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
Desire to help new students adjust and feel engaged at Dominican
Commitment to investing the time necessary to be an effective mentor
Strong interest in cultivating leadership skills
Willingness to be flexible and engaged with other mentors to carry out mentor duties and specific functions
Must be willing and able to engage with students at possible weekend conferences or evening events, as hours and times vary according to the program curriculum
Willing to participate in August orientation and training
Students interested in community work, such as social work, psychology, community organizing, education, healthcare, event planning, marketing, business, leadership, or other related areas are encouraged to apply due to direct transferability of skills
Benefits:
This is a paid position (Stipend of $1,000 per semester, though this is dependent on grant funding. Stipend goes toward the mentor's DU account balance. Mentors without balances will be issued their stipends in the form of a refund.)
