In a formative period of my life, I worked and studied extensively in post-Soviet countries, gaining unique insights into the region. In 2012, I completed an internship at the Latvian Transatlantic Organization (LATO) in Riga, Latvia. In 2014, I conducted research for my master’s thesis at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies. The following year, I was a fellow at the Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC) in Yerevan, Armenia. During the 2014/15 academic year, I pursued advanced studies in Russian literature at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) while working as a private German language teacher across Moscow.
I am fluent in Russian and possess deep expertise in the economic, political, and cultural dynamics of Georgia and Russia, with a particular emphasis on developments since the 1990s.
The highlight of my PhD journey was my time in Nepal between August and October 2023. During this period, I collaborated with Nepal's Ministry of Labor to gain access to administrative work permit data for Nepali migrants.
In addition to exploring the world through my studies and work, I find joy in life’s simpler pleasures. I love hiking in the German-speaking Alps, going for invigorating runs and lifting, growing vegetables in my garden, and spending quality time with family, friends, and pets.
