Origin Story
Veronica graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. After a few years in the educational realm working with school districts and learning centers, she transitioned into corporate training as a lead curriculum designer within the call center environment. Here she designed instructor led training and other resources such as job aids, manuals, and procedures. She also used change management practices to drive business results.
At the start of her design career, she volunteered with non-profit organizations, DESIGNxHUMANITY and Train On, to create curriculum related to diversity & inclusion and suicide prevention. She enjoyed collaborating with people who shared the same passion for activism and social change. Her participation allowed her to refine her skills for project management, quality assurance, story design, and using various authoring tools.
She currently works as an instructional designer in aviation during the day. After work she takes online classes to upskill her design skills and freelances as a lead designer. Veronica also enjoys attending iEmpower workshops to strengthen her leadership skills and participates in the Latina Speakers organization to enhance her public speaking skills.

In the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic, "Essentially Veronica" emerged as a persona to represent her transition from banking to aviation where she was recognized as an essential employee.

Veronica looks for ways to better serve her community through volunteer efforts and has been trained to serve on a non-profit board by SA2020, an organization created to enhance community life in San Antonio, Texas.

In 2020, she also discovered the power of virtual volunteerism with United Way in light of the pandemic. Her favorite volunteer project has been making birthday kits for the Children's Advocates of San Antonio (CASA). Each kit contains items needed to have a birthday party and are given to those who need assistance. Her participation inspired others to donate their time, money, and other resources to build the birthday kits on a monthly basis for the rest of the year and through 2021.
