Located about 35 miles from campus near Detroit Lakes, Minn., the LLFS allows students to study a variety of issues related to prairie, forest and lakeshore habitat. The on-site classroom provides an opportunity to bring samples from the land and water in for closer examination.
Located in the Integrated Science Center, the collections housed at the museum contain specimens in the areas of ornithology, mammalogy, entomology, botany, and malacology. The museum is open for students and researchers at Concordia College, with public outreach programs underway.
The Cornucopia Organic Garden started by a group of students in 2010. The high tunnel was added in 2015, and utilizes solar power and a double layered roof to extend the growing season into late fall. Student interns continue to plan, plant, and harvest the garden each season.
Located in the Integrated Science Center, the greenhouse is used to grow plants all year long. Students may use the benches and pond for in-class research projects, or can join the greenhouse club to help care for the plants.
The Biohaus is a part of the Concordia Language Villages. Built using cutting-edge sustainability technology, it serves as a location where classes can learn about and experiment with solar power, thermal energy, and much more.
