I love cactus, so when I saw this, I fell for it immediately.
For designing process, I used Fusion 360
To prepare the deign for printing process, I used Prusa Slicer.
To print the final design, I used 3D printer Prusa 1( i3 MK2).
I choose PLA Green Color to be the filament .
(the photo is from google)
I made this simple cactus pens holder design by making a sketch and then revolve it to make the basic body and then I made the 2 secondary bodies using the sweep feature and finally, I shelled the final body.

I wanted to make an effect to the surface to make it more like a real one so I came up with this design!
Not so much as I expected, but it is working :)
I used the same steps as the first design to make the basic body, and then the sweep feature to make the shape I wanted on the surface and the circular pattern feature to duplicate it.
To prepare the design to be printed, I used PrusaSlicer to set all required settings (Speed, type of filament, type of printer, infill, and nozzle temperature), I had to scale the design down to be 65% of its original size; to meet the time limitations, then I slice it and finally extracted the G-code file, and I sent it to the memory card of the printer.
Print settings:
Print Settings: 0.20mm (Modified)
Filament: Generic PLA (Modified)
Printer: Prusa i3 MK2S
Infill: 15%
Scale Factors: 65%
Extruder temperature: 210
Sliced info:
Used filament: 14.5 (g)
Estimated printing time: 1h 26m
And, to print the pens holder, I choose the PLA green color 3D filament to make it more like real cactus, I unloaded the previous filament and loaded the green one, and then I started the printing process.

Printing process at 67%
Actual printing time: 1h 25m!
My final cute cactus pens holder <3
Just another angle :D
My baby cactus with its friend Ms. Castle :D ( Moiz's pens holder) at the FabLab.
when I was making the first design, the shell didn't work on the surfaces of secondary parts so I came up with making holes on the surface.
I have no idea why this happened and I know this is not the best solution but I tried at least :)
when I wanted to make the effect on the surface to make it more like a real cactus, I did have no clue of how to make this so I searched and I found this tutorial and it was such a benefit!
I was trying to apply the same concept to make the same effect on the secondary parts, but when I tried to apply the circular pattern, I could not choose the spline I draw to make the sweep as an axis to make the pattern around it. so thought of try something else.
so I thought of trying to make the secondary part the same way as I made the basic part (Sketch + revolve) instead of the sweep as I did before, it did work. but!!
But, I faced an issue when I tried to make the shell. Although I make the thickness 1 mm and I could not figure out a solution for this so I gave up and decided to keep the basic part only :(
It is more like a change of mindset that 3d designing is not impossible and there is a level where everybody can learn it. I am glad that I had the chance to learn this, and of course, with no doubts...
