I don't think that it's possible for me to be reasonable or fair about this movie. It's quite possibly my favourite movie. If we're talking just statistically, it is my favourite movie. I can *and will* quote this movie with like 70% accuracy, even if no one is around. The story of this movie is pure storybook fluff and it knows that and leans into it. Every little action is accompanied by a musical sting. The movie is more quotable than Monty Python. There are only two real issues with this movie and they're that Buttercup is kind of a very passive character who does nothing substantial for herself throughout (though she is very assertive) and the beautiful sword that Inigo's father forged over the course of a year is actually a gaudy costume store prop. I mean, everyone's outfits and all the props are pure Spirit Halloween, but it works well enough. The sets have a quality that sets don't have these days, where everything is CGI. Big chunky Styrofoam rocks. Indoor pools for shooting boat scenes. And the matte paintings! I love a good matte painting.
This movie is not the best and there are so many jump cuts that are matched poorly, but I love this movie so much. I don't know how to be fair to it. So I'm not going to bother.
