Esmeranda Manful is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Sociology and Social Work, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. She has vast experience in managing social research in Ghana and the UK with a focus on social welfare issues. Her research interest, while focusing primarily on child and family welfare, spans social welfare, gender and social protection issues. She brings these to bear in her teaching and educational programmes. Her research output is published in leading international peer reviewed journals.
Prior to joining academia, she was a Research Officer with the then quasi-state policy agency, Ghana National Commission on Children (1994 – 2004), her main responsibility was to provide empirical evidence on developmental issues affecting children to inform policy. In 2008, she joined academia as a Research Associate with the Centre for Research in Social Policy, Loughborough University UK; where she undertook both theoretical and applied social policy research. As a member of Faculty with KNUST’s Department of Sociology and Social Work, since 2012, she has been teaching courses at both the undergraduate and post graduate levels. Esmeranda is a product of Queens University Belfast and University of Ghana.
