You can use this Word Parts Card Template Slidedeck with your students to encourage structured word inquiry in your classroom.

This resource can be used with ALL students, including Multilingual Language Learners.

Root Word Trees

This resource can be used to explicitly teach root words that are part of key vocabulary in a unit of study. Up to 90% of academic vocabulary in the Sciences is derived from Latin or Greek root words.  Based off of the activity “Root Word Tree”, found on page 229 of “EL Excellence Every Day: The Flip-To Guide for Differentiating Academic Literacy” by Tonya Ward Singer (Corwin, 2018). 



This resource can be used with ALL students, including Multilingual Language Learners.

Grammar On The Go

The "Grammar On The Go" video series unpacks the grammar included in the new 2023 Ontario Language Curriculum Grades 1-9, one short video at a time. Videos are appropriate to use with both monolingual and multilingual students, and are a great reference/refresher for educators.
