Class Information
Schedules
This year, ESL classes will follow a block schedule, which means that most classes will be 80 minutes long.
Periods 2 and 3 are the only exception because homeroom interrupts the block. If you have ESL during periods 2 and 3, report to Period 2 first, go to homeroom when instructed, and return to the ESL classroom afterward.
Periods 6 and 7 will meet for the full 80 minutes without interruption.
ESL 5 classes will remain 40 minutes long. There will be one break during the 80 minute period. This will be when the bell rings at the end of forty minutes. We will take a five minute recess, stay in your seat, you can stand up and relax.
The school prohibits cell phone use during class. Upon entering the classroom, place your phone in your assigned slot in the wall pouch. Phones must remain there for the entire class period and may be retrieved at the end of the period.
This year, we will use two notebooks that are essential for success in this class. The first will be a journal provided by the teacher and used at the beginning of each class. The second notebook must be purchased and will be used for class notes. It must be organized according to the Notebook Organization Guidelines found on this website. Both notebooks will be used daily and must remain in the classroom.

Students may use the bathroom with the teacher’s permission. Per school policy, bathroom breaks are not permitted at the beginning of class or during the final 10 minutes. Because class periods are 80 minutes long, use your judgment when deciding when to go. Class time is reserved for learning, so students should not expect to leave the classroom every day. All bathroom breaks must be limited to five minutes.
School Location Log
If you arrive more than 20 minutes late to class, it will be considered a class cut.
If you arrive late to homeroom, report to the late table, obtain a late pass, and then return to homeroom. If you do not obtain a late pass, you will be marked absent from homeroom.
