This two-day course provides participants an overview of the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 on General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories; ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 Part 1: Conformity assessment — Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems, and the internal auditing techniques to demonstrate conformity of the ISO standards.

Officers and consultants working on internal/external audit of testing and calibration laboratories & Practitioner, company staff who works in laboratories and manufacturing plants, who are involved in laboratory activities and maintaining of laboratory documents and records, may attend.

The Speakers

Ir Dr Tommy Lo

Over 30 years in auditing and quality system development work. He is the President of Hong Kong Institution of Certified Auditors and Chairman of the International Personnel Certification Association. Specialist Committee of Personnel Certification of China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment. Fellow of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Honorary Fellow of Guangdong Society of Engineers, Registered professional engineer in civil, building and materials disciplines. He retired from the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, City University of Hong Kong.

Dr Eric Sze

Dr. Eric Sze has more than 10 years’ working experience as technical managements in various laboratories and had served as Senior Accreditation Officer at the Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS), a statutory body to provide accreditation to conformity assessment bodies in Hong Kong. He is a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Certified Auditors (HKICA), and is HKICA Certified Lead Auditors in Quality Management System (ISO 9001) and Testing and Calibration Laboratory Management System (ISO 17025).

Dr. Sze was educated at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), where he obtained his Bachelor and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in environmental science and chemistry respectively. He is currently appointed as Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he contributes to the teaching of courses including ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory management, measurement uncertainty, consumer products and food testing.
