Accessbility Guidelines

Broadcom ESD is committed to designing and building products that are accessible to the widest possible audience. To achieve this, we’ve adopted industry-standard accessibility guidelines to ensure that we remain at the highest level of compliance.

Design

When designing products, the minimum requirements for accessibility should be WCAG 2.0 AA. Whenever possible, exceeding these requirements is preferred. WCAG 2.1 AAA should be a target for all new design efforts.

WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 are both current standards, but 2.1 adds additional success criteria that should be considered. Learn more about these two standards and how they complement each other.

UI components within the Mineral design system meet or exceed WCAG 2.0 AA.

Text

Text that is displayed within a product UI should be written to be as accessible as possible. Refer to the Mineral Style Guide for more guidance.

Technology

How UI is coded plays a massive role in how accessible the product will be for users of assistive technologies. Because of this, code UI using ARIA Authoring Practices 1.1 whenever possible.

UI components within Mineral comply with ARIA Authoring Practices 1.1.
