I have, for a long time now, enjoyed watching gaming content on YouTube. And during that time, my parents would constantly ask, “Why are you watching someone else play a video game? Why don’t just play the games you have?” or something similar. For me personally, it was because the games I was watching were inaccessible for me to play at the time, as well as just because they were humorous to watch. However, this question has lingered on not only my mind, but also on the minds of many parents in similar situations as well.
Scientifically and Academically, my project will show the psychological effects of video game content on the minds of teens and young children. I will try to show how certain video game content makes viewers feel. This will pertain to my future goals of becoming a psychologist to learn how to properly diagnose certain conditions in the human mind of young children and teens. This is also mainly to help try to put a rest to a large debate that is still going on to this day on the subject.
In short, this is one of the many topics that I feel strongly about. In my attempt to clarify what causes Youtubers with gaming content to be popular, I will answer that longstanding question that has plagued the minds of parents in this day and age. I will also clarify that Youtubing is not an easy thing to do, like most believe, and is not a get-rich-quick plan at all.
