Keith Scott is a veteran collector from Sydney, Australia who has a lifelong obsession with the voices of old-time radio, with a special interest in Hollywood shows. He started collecting OTR in the analog year of 1972, when he discovered the many LP records from companies like Radiola & Mark 56.
A lifelong love of Jay Ward’s witty TV cartoons like Rocky and Bullwinkle led to Scott’s meeting Jay Ward’s editor Skip Craig in 1973. Craig coincidentally was one of America’s leading OTR collectors. He began supplying Scott with all the classic shows like SUSPENSE, ESCAPE and GUNSMOKE in the reel to reel era.
At the same time Scott was also using his own voice for a living as a freelance cartoon actor and impressionist, on thousands of character voice-overs from the 1970s until now. Because of his industry connections he got to be on the inside as a regular visitor at Hollywood’s Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters, and with the expert help of his friend Ken Greenwald, leading collector and disc dubber, was able to build a high quality collection of material as well as doing years of research on radio actors and classic era animated cartoons.
He has been a regular visitor to Thousand Oaks Library’s American Radio Archive of scripts since 1992, and has conducted much valuable research. This ESCAPE log is the first of several planned reference aides which he wants to make as concise and accurate as possible. It reflects his effort to be scrupulous about the correct spelling of actors’ names, character names in the stories, and authors’ names for posterity.

Most of the impressions you’ll hear were a product of his slavish listening to radio and movies for half a century. After some years away from the hobby he came back in 2017 more enthused than ever.
