The map of Escape from Tarkov consists of 11 different locations of which 10 have been released so far. While all maps are to be connected eventually, for now they are all separated from each other.

The Question I have is the maps you get for Woods, Factory, or Customs when you take it in the game does it permanently have a map from then on? or does it disappear if you die and have to buy another if you lose it?

* play this map Scav/PMC until you learned all extract and how fast you can get to them from any point of the map + you know you exact position on the map 100% of the time without looking at compass or interactive maps.

Have a look at the customs ingame map item, observe closely the unaccessible industrial part of woods and customs and you'll see that all of them have exactly the same buildings layout. In fact a little portion of customs and woods maps could be easily overlapped. It may be beta assets reuse, but I like to think it's something more. What's more interesting, one of the buildings is very similar in its layout to factory map and one of its sides can be seen from the train bridge near gas station exit on customs. On top of that, if you think about the placement of some of the barriers and fences running without any sense on the maps, you can easily come to conclusion, that they are only temporary obstructions and really don't belong to the map itself.

The same as before patch 0.8 there u also cant chose spawns Before 0.8 There wasnt such many maps from tarkov on google and new player use them for Exits points and so one or to navigate in the raids.

So the only use for maps is to just keep them in your inventory and look at them if you need a map? I mean... I can just have the map open on my second monitor from a website that shows the map... If bringing the map into the raid in my docs case isn't going to benefit me any further than simply being able to look at it, then I'll just leave it in my stash.

Some of the maps are recognisable from the earlier showcases that were released in 2022, but others are totally brand new. However, it seems that Battlestate Games has taken inspiration from earlier games such as Contract Wars and Hired Ops, as a couple of these maps closely resemble environments offered up in those titles several years ago.

Escape from Tarkov is a multiplayer tactical first-person shooter video game in development by Battlestate Games for Microsoft Windows. The game is set in the fictional Norvinsk region in northwestern Russia, where a war is taking place between two private military companies (United Security "USEC" and the Battle Encounter Assault Regiment "BEAR"). Players join matches called "raids" in which they fight other players and bots for loot and aim to survive and escape.

The developers of Escape from Tarkov refer to the game as a realistic and hardcore first-person shooter, survival video game that borrows elements from massively multiplayer online games.[2][3] In its current state, Escape from Tarkov incorporates three different modes for the players to play: online PMC raids, Scav (short for "scavenger") raids,[4][3][5] and a temporary offline mode.[2] In these raids, players can choose to play solo or in groups and spawn on one side of a variety of maps to choose from in the game.[6] Once in-game, the players are given an extraction point on the other side of the map, and must fight against other players and non-player characters to reach that point in order to escape. In addition to these standard extractions, players are also given the opportunity to use other extraction points near the middle of the map, but must meet various requirements depending on the specific extract.[7] In addition to combat, players can also find loot such as firearms, equipment, and armor. Once extracted, can store their loot in a stash to use in future raids or sell it to other players in a virtual flea market.[7][8]

Escape from Tarkov is set in the fictional city of Tarkov, the capital of the Norvinsk Special Economic Zone in northwestern Russia between the years 2015 and 2026.[1] Political scandals and collapse of corporations have resulted in the social breakdown of Tarkov and warring factions have turned the city into a shell of itself with sections of the city being under control of aggressive locals called Scavs. There are currently nine available maps for players; each one being a different abandoned region of the city: Customs, a large outdoor industrial park; Factory, the interior of a small chemical plant; Interchange, a huge shopping mall; The Lab, a secret research facility operated by an organization called TerraGroup; Lighthouse, an expansive map with a cargo train station, water treatment plant, chalet homes, and an island with a lighthouse; Reserve, a secret military base; Shoreline, a large map with multiple areas including a hydroelectric power plant, villages, and a health resort; Streets of Tarkov, a section of the downtown area of Tarkov; and Woods, a formerly state-protected wildlife reserve. There are three more maps under development, Suburbs, Terminal, and Town.

If you're unfamiliar with Lostgamer, the website takes maps from some of the most popular games like Skyrim and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and randomly generates a first-person view of a location. Guessing the area and marking the map with a pin will reward you with points for accuracy, similar to GeoGuessr, which showcases Earth.

Seemingly out of nowhere, a video was uploaded on the Escape from Tarkov Twitter account. The video featured the Fence, one of the game's eight traders. In the video, the Fence talked about how his men, the Scavengers, were limiting entry to all but one of the game's various locations. According to him, this was to make sure that the PMCs would obey their laws, something that the inhabitants of Tarkov valued. Players could only enter one of the game's nine maps for free. All of the other maps required a specific item to enter.

The Twitter account then quote retweeted the video, giving players a link to a global event tracking website. This tracker, which is called Open Map (from the URL), kept track of the PMC and Scav kills in the free-to-enter map. Judging from what Fence said in the video, as well as the information on the tracker, players had to reach a certain number of kills in specific maps to unlock the next free-to-enter map. This is a global counter, meaning everyone playing the game is contributing to the kill counter. Upon checking the global counter, the player will be able to see which maps they can access for free.

The other locations required the player to have specific items to enter them. These items ranged from Sugar cubes to Gas analyzers, and even more expensive items, some of which are quest items. This is likely to make sure players participate in the ongoing event. It's important to note that Scavs can still enter the locations without having to pay with these items. The items that players will have to turn over to access the maps are not currently free-to-access changed whenever the free map changed.

The Escape from Tarkov developers also wants to combine all maps into one single open world area. Once this happens, players will need to complete the quests and story of each map before they can unlock open world mode.

For many, Factory proves to be an excellent chance to get some quick action. Whilst many of the larger maps in Escape from Tarkov often take 30-40 minutes before extraction, you can extract from Factory within just a few seconds.
