"Gang of one" and why "Ernest:" My Chinese name is 刚 (gāng), meaning "tough" or "strong." However, "Gang" in English refers to a group, which is why people at drive-throughs smile when they hear my name – there's no such thing as a gang of one! To avoid confusion, I chose the name "Ernest." I like it because of Ernest Hemingway, who wrote about a man who refused to be defeated. The old man's fight with a giant marlin and the sharks beautifully captures the meaning of 刚.
Life of "Meowtitasking:" In my spare time, I spoil my three beautiful cats—Emma, a mischievous Nebelung with a spicy personality; Malady, my affectionate Russian blue; and Lucian, my big-bone new addition from the Cleveland APL. Emma treats me like her personal cookie dough and automatic feeder, while Malady looks like Emma after a fresh salon visit. In terms of Lucian, he is as heavy as Emma and Malady put together. They're all irresistibly adorable!
"Earnings per share:" Alongside Sheryl Zhang, my best friend and colleague at Washington University, we're playfully known as the "earnings per share" duo – a witty twist on "Ernest plus Sheryl." She will be joining ESSEC, a top European business school in France. Félicitations!
