My name is Erin Donaghy and I am a sedimentologist and field geologist primarily interested in studying basins that formed along active convergent and strike-slip margins. I have three years of professional experience as an exploration geologist in the energy industry, giving me the opportunity to study basins around the world.
I use the sedimentary record to tackle large-scale tectonic questions. I integrate both traditional field mapping and analytical methods in my research to constrain the temporal and lateral variations in depositional environments and provenance within sedimentary basins. With these data, I can understand the timing of structural and sedimentary processes within a basin and how it relates to major tectonic processes during basin formation.
I am excited to announce I will be starting as an assistant professor at University of Nevada, Las Vegas in January 2025! Please contact me if you are interested in MS or PhD research opportunities.
