Building Level Readiness Training
This professional development was a large undertaking. After certification by Project Lead The Way as a Lead Teacher, I was tasked with returning to my building and creating Building Level Readiness Training (BLRT) for 10 core grade-level ambassadors. The goal of the training was to familiarize teachers with the PLTW organization, the LMS used in the program, the PLTW curriculum module model, the PLTW instrucional approach, and how to access ongoing training. The training was a total of 12 hours over 4 days and included hands-on time with the iPads using the LMS and apps frequently used in PLTW modules, as well as several hands-on design projects taken through the engineering process from start to "finish."

As a Lead Teacher, I served as a coach for these 10 teachers, who implemented the curriculum in their classrooms that first year. I checked in every two weeks to ensure that I addressed any questions that arose, and scheduled time to co-teach modules for teachers who felt they needed extra support. This was a big undertaking, and I really wish I'd been able to continue to project!

Last summer, I volunteered to be an "OER Pioneer" responsible for populating and promoting Virginia's Open Education Resources repository, #GoOpenVA. I was one of a handful of educators across the state who created, curated and posted 10 open education resources for use by Virginia teachers. Knowing that this would be a new topic to many, I created the following professional development presentation and take-away to familiarize teachers at my school with the site and the resources available to them. I was scheduled to deliver this PD in the spring, before schools were closed due to COVID-19. This PD would have been delivered to 35 staff members. There is a section in which participants browse through 3 websites looking for resources in support of a pre-selected unit. I would circulate and guide participants during this time, ensuring that different grade levels are finding the types of resources they're seeking, while providing extra support to teachers who are struggling with the platform itself. I would follow up after the presentation to ensure that all questions are answered and that teachers understand how the resource can benefit them.
