I am an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Idaho. I am a faculty member of the Department of Business, where the undergraduate programs in Economics at UI are housed. The master's program is housed in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology, of which I am an affiliated faculty member.
My main research focus has been the economics of science and innovation, especially regarding the international mobility of research talent. A related focus has been on the role of knowledge spillovers and knowledge transfers in geographic clusters of innovation. In general, I'm interested in anything related to economic growth and development. I have also branched out into agricultural economics, collaborating on studies of wine and beef markets, as well as wine judging.

I have been very active in teaching in my first ten years at the University of Idaho: developed six courses, taught 50 course sections and over 2,000 students. I have really enjoyed developing my courses in Econometrics, Development, International, Macroeconomics and Principles of Macro. Most recently I developed a one-credit general education course titled "Inequality Here & Abroad", which tackles the facts and ethics of inequality in the US and globally.
