As an artist of varying mediums, and always having had an interest in ceramics, I enrolled at Flower City Arts Center in July of 2017 for my first 'intro to wheel' ceramics class. I found working with clay in the form of ceramics a way to de-stress from my busy career as an architect, and followed up with courses in both hand building, and slip casting. As much as I enjoy the nature of throwing on a wheel, I am drawn to the freedom of sculpting as a way to express my creative side in a way I am free to create without the structure and form that is required in my daily routine where precision and accuracy are required. I blend my love for clay and historical craftsmanship with my current architectural series which comprises of both hand-built, molding, and slipcasting architectural details from a time of pride in the craft, and turning them into functional pieces of art.
