The Scottsbluff Program of Study I created demonstrates how I can take the courses I will be teaching next fall and present them in an engaging, student-friendly format, such as a flyer, that sparks interest and encourages enrollment. This program outlines the prerequisites students must complete before enrolling in specific agriculture classes, helping them understand the progression and expectations of the pathway. It also clearly identifies the capstone credits available, giving students a broader perspective on how these courses contribute to their overall academic and career goals. When I step into my own classroom, I plan to design a similar, dynamic program of study that is structured yet flexible and allows for course sequencing that builds upon prior knowledge. This will showcase my ability to develop and implement meaningful content aligned with educational standards, while creating clear pathways for student success in agricultural education.
Through a combination of engaging lectures, Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs), and active participation in FFA activities, my program handbook illustrates how thoughtful program sequencing can influence and guide the career pathways students choose in my agriculture classroom. Developed in collaboration with my classmates in ALEC 234, this handbook reflects a shared vision for how to structure an effective and engaging agricultural education program. By providing a clear progression of learning opportunities, students are able to explore their interests, build foundational and advanced skills, and make informed decisions about their future. This approach supports growth not only in technical knowledge but also in leadership, critical thinking, and real-world application. In my future classroom, I intend to implement a similar, well-structured program guide that fosters practical learning and personal development. By aligning classroom instruction with experiential learning and leadership opportunities, I aim to prepare my students for success across a diverse range of agricultural careers and life pathways.
