Ms. Erica Brown
I grew up on a small farm near Tilden, Nebraska, and agriculture has always been a central part of my life. Even today, I continue to help on the farm whenever I have the opportunity. I graduated from Elkhorn Valley High School in 2022, where I was actively involved in a wide range of extracurricular activities, including Band, FBLA, Speech, athletics, National Honor Society and FFA. I had the privilege of serving as the Elkhorn Valley FFA chapter’s only four-year officer. Since the chapter was newly chartered at the start of my freshman year, I experienced firsthand the process of building a successful program from the ground up, an experience that greatly shaped my leadership and dedication to agricultural education.
My passion for agriculture has led me to pursue a career where I can help students discover and develop their own interests in the field. I went on to complete the 3+1 Agricultural Education Transfer Program in partnership with Chadron State College and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, ultimately earning my degree in Agricultural Education from UNL in December of 2025. As part of my training, I completed my student teaching at Scottsbluff High School during the Fall 2025 semester where I gained experience teaching a variety of agricultural coures and supporting student leadership development.
I have accepted an agricultural education position at North Platte High School, where I look forward to contributing to a strong program, fostering student success, and promoting high-quality, community-based agricultural education.
The purpose of this portfolio is to display my ability to implement a high quality agriculture education program.
