About Me

Here are some random facts about me: 

• I was born in 1964 (you can do the math!) on a Royal Canadian Air Force base in France (called 1 Fighter Wing)

• I hold 4 university degrees plus a post-doctoral fellowship in bone cancer pain

• I am married and have two adult sons - one is a licensed helicopter mechanic, the other is a real estate law clerk and a real estate agent

• I live in Dundas Ontario (for over 30 years) but I call Portage la Prairie Manitoba as my family hometown

• I am a medical scientist and pharmacologist by training, but I have been known to dabble in neuroscience occasionally

• I am an amateur photographer and have enjoyed taking pictures since the 1970s - my portfolio is where you are right now

• I have a camera collection - yes, I am a professional geek (find it here) 

• I enjoy cooking and do almost all of the cooking at home

• I am an Assistant Professor in the department of Anesthesia at McMaster University, but I teach full-time for the Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences program

• I am a stained glass artist (yup, random!), and have done it for more than 30 years - here is my stained glass portfolio (https://ericseidlitzglass.myportfolio.com/) 

• I used to be a pilot, but don't fly anymore due to age and health issues

• I have survived being terminally ill (anaplastic thyroid cancer, stage 4b, metastatic - diagnosed in Nov 2019) but am currently in remission
