The IES Villa de Vícar offers many study possibilities and is divided into different branches, first in "ESO" (12 to 16 years) with the compulsory and optional subjects: Language, Mathematics, physics and chemistry, biology, physical education, 1st and 2nd foreign language ( French and English), technology, religion, ethical values, music, drawing, geography and history, philosophy, economy, Latin, ancient Greek, computer science and robotics.
We have also Bilingual groups in the E.S.O. Students receive classes in Spanish and also english.
BACHILLERATO
And, from the age of 16 and up to the age of 18, students begin non-compulsory secondary education: "Bachillerato". Students have the choice between the baccalaureate of Science and Technology or the bacalaureate of Humanities and Social Sciences. In "Bachillerato" there are modality subjects (depending on the type of bachelor) as: Technical Drawing, History of Philosophy, History of the Contemporary World, Universal Literature, Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences, Business Economics, Geography, Art History, industrial technology and anatomy.
P.M.A.R.
During the "ESO" if the student has some difficulties, there is the possibility to enter in " PMAR" (Programas de mejora del aprendizaje y del rendimiento = Learning and performance improvement programs). They are organized in 2 academic years, during the 2nd and 3rd level of ESO and preferably intended for students with relevant learning difficulties not caused by lack of study, also for students with disabilities. About the ratio: Students per group may not be less than eight and nor more than fifteen. And the purpose is that students can take 4th ESO through the ordinary route and obtain the title of Graduate in ESO.
AULA ESPECÍFICA
In our school, there is also a specific classroom (Aula especifica) for students with special needs. The specific classroom is considered the space that enables further development while favoring greater possibilities for social integration, normalization and enhancement of values and attitudes of cooperative work with all the students of the school.
A.T.A.L.
Our school has a special context and receive every year students who don't speak spanish ( from Marocco, Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Russia, Rumania, etc..). That's why, we have a special classroom called " ATAL" (Aulas temporales de adaptación lingüistica = temporary language adaptation classroom). The ATAL classrooms help to eliminate the language barrier in immigrant students as long as they achieve integration in the educational system and in their new socio-cultural context.
V.E.T.
And finally, another important point of our school is the VET in Agro-gardening and Floral Compositions. The general competence of this title consists of elaborating compositions with flowers and plants and carrying out auxiliary operations in crops, in plant production in greenhouses or in garden centers, collaborating in the preparation of the land and in the implantation and maintenance of gardens, parks and green areas.
