“Technology is a mere enabler of best practices in teaching and learning, and we believe that the teacher remains absolutely critical for positive student outcomes in the context of constructive alignment.”
Debates about the role of technology in education are not new, and neither are the opportunities and challenges that technology represents for education. It was common to raise concerns about cell phone use in classrooms. Some teachers find it disruptive, and students can quickly lose their attention during class. COVID-19 has highlighted the role of technology in our lives. In times of social isolation and physical distancing, we are using online tools such as video conferencing services to connect with and learn from one another. This also includes young learners, who are connecting with their teachers and interacting with their friends online more than ever before.
“The current situation is an opportunity for teachers and e-learning professionals to test the boundaries of what is possible without personal contact.”
In 2020 and 2021 all educational institutions have experienced distance teaching/ learning , the positive side of using digital tools in the remote classroom and that digitalization could be enormously helpful in achieving the educational goals. We also knew that this requires a new attitude on the part of teachers. In this section the intention is not to replace human communication with digital media yet we would like to promote a new culture of learning and catch a glimpse of the future.Ready or not online teaching is here.
“Technology is particularly helpful for individualizing instruction, because students learn much better when they can advance at their own pace and choose the areas they want to focus on.”
This approach encourages students to become active and lets them see that they can have an impact, which is really empowering for young people at this age.The students can write a logbook where they write down what they planned to do, and at the end of each lesson they record what they accomplished, they can upgraded a website, develop an app, create videos or practice storytelling; all of these are future skills.
Word cloud or Open-ended questions can be used as prompts for engaging discussion and initiating debate. The instructors can also give students opportunities to anonymously voice concerns and collect real-time feedback, which further supports dialogic teaching as opposed to purely teacher-centred instruction. The Quiz feature can be used for testing students’ understanding and above all the platform can be used by teachers to cooperate on lesson planning and share exercises, pictures, presentations, instructional films and tutorials. Students can work together on projects, exchange ideas and provide online feedback to their classmates.
Digital tools can facilitate adaptive teaching, as they are a helpful resource for tailoring instruction to individual students.
