An Erasmus+ Small-Scale Partnership for Innovative, Inclusive and Outdoor Education
Learn Outside, Smile and Shine is a European Erasmus+ KA210 project that brings education outdoors, transforming learning into an engaging, inclusive and joyful experience for teachers and students across Europe.
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, the project connects 6 partners from 5 European countries — Romania (coordinator), Italy, Greece, Lithuania and North Macedonia — with a shared vision: to create happier schools through outdoor learning, well-being and inclusion.
WHY OUTDOOR LEARNING
Learning Beyond Classroom Walls
Traditional classroom-based teaching alone is often not enough to fully engage today’s students. Outdoor learning offers an effective alternative by combining movement, exploration and real-life experiences with curriculum objectives.
Research and school practice show that outdoor learning:
increases motivation and participation
improves concentration and emotional balance
strengthens teamwork and communication skills
supports inclusion and respect for diversity
reduces stress and school burnout
By integrating outdoor education into everyday school life, Learn Outside, Smile and Shine helps schools become healthier, more inclusive and more inspiring learning environments.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
What we aim to achieve
The project is designed to produce real and measurable impact at school, local and European level.
By empowering teachers, we ensure long-lasting benefits for students and educational institutions.
Our main objectives are to:
train more teachers in outdoor learning, digital tools and socio-emotional learning (SEL);
support teachers in creating inclusive, student-centered and motivating lessons;
promote student well-being and prevent bullying and discrimination;
develop innovative, outdoor-based and interdisciplinary curricula;
strengthen European cooperation and intercultural dialogue among schools.

The project Learn Outside, Smile and Shine is designed to generate concrete results and long-lasting educational impact at school, local and European level.
Through transnational cooperation, outdoor learning practices and digital exchange, the project supports teachers in developing innovative, inclusive and well-being-oriented educational approaches.
Its outcomes and impact reflect the core priorities of the project: outdoor learning, inclusion, student well-being, innovation and European cooperation.

Learn Outside, Smile and Shine aims to inspire future Erasmus+ initiatives and contribute to lasting innovation in European education.
