Let's play it again – traditional games and activities as a way to integrate and activate young people”
The mobility in Limassol brought together students and teachers to explore how traditional games can foster inclusion, teamwork, and cultural understanding. The visit began with a warm welcome, ice-breaking activities, and a guided tour of Laniteio Lykeio, where participants learned about the Cypriot school, its history, and its educational culture. Students also presented videos and exhibitions featuring traditional games from Cyprus.
During the week, the group visited major cultural and historical sites such as the ancient city of Kourion, the mosaic of Achilles, the medieval castle of Kolossi, and the traditional village of Omodos. These visits helped participants connect ancient Greek, Roman, and medieval traditions with the evolution of games across different eras.
A full day was dedicated to practicing and analysing traditional games in a circular formation, allowing students to compare game types, discuss similarities, and co-create ideas for future activities. Another highlight was the beach-volleyball tournament at the Limassol public beach, supported by the municipality. Students experienced the local “beach games” culture, met the mayor, and celebrated the winning teams.
The programme also included a visit to Geroskepou and Paphos, offering participants the chance to explore Cyprus’s rich cultural heritage through museums and archaeological sites.
The final day focused on reflection and creativity. Students presented a video summarising their mobility experience, followed by a workshop on video production and eTwinning. The mobility concluded with a diploma ceremony and a farewell dinner celebrating the friendships and collaborative spirit built throughout the week.
